Ron
I hear you are digging a garden pond, borrow a Cent and do a neutral in it. I think you will find it a lot easier.

The pond is now complete and it is 4 metres by 3 metres  and 3 feet deep.It is surrounded by 1 ton of sandstone rocks. There are plants thriving and 29 fish swimming around quite happily. We have UV light to keep the water clear and a waterfall.

Digging the big hole above was like digging Oxo cubes out of the ground,it was solid clay. The water (about 800 gallons)took approximately 3-4 weeks to clear with the help of the UV filter. With the price of fish and plants I have to keep my eyes on it all the time,at least twice a day I use the net and scoop out all the leaves etc, generally keeping the surface clear. All the fish seem quite happy swimming around the pond, lets hope we have a bit of luck and get some little ones in about 12 months time.Anyone with any advice or buckshee plants, let me know.
